The Department focus is on the development, analysis, and application of numerical methods to a wide range of tasks in mechanical engineering and other related engineering disciplines. Of particular interest is problem solving in the fields of fluid dynamics and solid mechanics as well as specialized work in heat transfer and realistic modelling. Special emphasis is placed on multiphysics problems such as fluid-structure interaction and coupled electro-magneto-hydrodynamics problems.
